About Ogden Otters

Every child deserves the opportunity to feel safe and confident in the water.

Why parents stay with us

Our teachers get in the water with the children. In it, at your child's height, close enough to catch a wobble before it becomes a fright. It's slower to run a school this way, and it's the reason children settle faster.

The pool is kept warm, which matters more than it sounds. A cold child doesn't learn anything except that they'd rather be out.

And we teach the child in front of us. Two children the same age can be a year apart in the water, so we work to where they are rather than to where the register says they should be. We never tell a child they haven't succeeded.

A teacher stood in the water, guiding a child swimming towards her holding a kickboard, with the rest of the class waiting at the far end of the pool.

Progress counted properly

The national curriculum records swimming as pass or fail at 25 metres. That means a child who couldn't swim a stroke in September and can now manage fifteen metres on their own has, officially, achieved nothing.

We record every five metres, and every one of them gets recognised. Because getting from nought to fifteen is the hard part, and it deserves saying out loud.

What we stand for

A world where every child, regardless of background or ability, has the confidence, skills, and love for water that will keep them safe for life.

  • Safety First — Always

We never compromise on safety, ensuring every swimmer learns in a secure and supportive environment.

  • Play with Purpose

We use play-based learning to make swimming fun, memorable, and confidence-boosting from the first splash.

  • Inclusion for All

Every child matters — we adapt our lessons to meet individual needs and welcome all abilities and backgrounds. We don't charge more for SEND lessons, whatever your age. You're paying for the pool time and the teacher. Nothing else.

  • Progress Through Support

Our regular written feedback helps swimmers and parents celebrate progress and understand next steps.

  • Affordable Access

We take payment in four-week blocks rather than asking for a whole term up front, which keeps lessons manageable without cutting any corners.

  • Community Connection

We partner with local schools to bring high-quality swimming lessons to as many children as possible.

  • Warm, Welcoming Teamwork

Our staff are approachable, friendly, and committed to making every swimmer's journey positive.

Our warm, welcoming team works together to make every swimmer feel valued, every parent feel informed, and every lesson a step towards lifelong water confidence.
